Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888-1975) was an eminent philosopher, scholar and politician. He served as –

  • the 2nd Ambassador of India to the Soviet Union (1949-1952)
  • the fourth Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (1939-1948)

“Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5th is observed as Teachers’ Day”.
